Points are kept for each race to determine an overall series winner. How are the total scores calculated ? Scores are tallied separately for men and women, and for each race. The times for the top 3 finishers are averaged, and each participant's time is expressed relative to this average. The first 3 finishers are used regardless of whether they competed in all 3 races of the series. For example, if the average of the top three finishers is 32 minutes, and a runner finished in 40 minutes, then that person's score for that race would be 32/40 = 0.8. The total score for each runner is the sum across each of the Tour de Carrboro races.
